What is the Rocky Mount
Community Foundation?

The Rocky Mount Community Foundation (RMCF) was created in 1997 as a private foundation to promote and advance the Rocky Mount area as a great place to work, live and learn by enhancing business growth and opportunities for the city. The foundation grew from what was formerly the Rocky Mount Merchants Association. We are a private charity serving thousands of people who share a common concern – improving the quality of life in Rocky Mount, Nash and Edgecombe counties.

This brochure provides an overview of our goals for the future and how individuals, families, businesses and organizations can make charitable gifts that can help our region meet the challenges for the future. RMCF will invest and administer these funds through the foundation and then use the distributions to award grants each year to many of the humanitarian, educational and cultural organizations in this region we call home.

Rocky Mount is a wonderful place to live, work and play, yet we all agree that we have challenges for the future. By making a donation or gift to the RMCF, your donation will go towards stimulating economic growth and meeting Rocky Mount’s vital needs for the future. How does it work?

 Any individual or organization may use it to give something back to the community.

Your donation will be commingled and invested with the existing foundation funds, along with other donations from additional donors. RMCF uses outside professionals to invest and manage our assets and we are overseen by a volunteer board of local leading citizens and business leaders with the understanding and expertise in knowing our community’s needs. We go beyond simply making grants that advance charitable activities: we also identify current and emerging issues, stimulate resources to address those needs and help our region prepare for the future.
